Hungarian toll road network is charged via electronic vignette
With a few exceptions, the Hungarian motorways, highways and expressways can only be used with pre-purchased online vignette.
Who must purchase an online vignette before entering Hungary?
The obligation to buy an online vignette in Hungary applies to almost all motor vehicles having at least two wheels and a maximum permissible weight of not more than 3,5 tonnes. All buses, motorcycles and towed trailers are also subjects to this obligation.
The Hungarian e-vignette system applies to these vehicle categories:
D1
Passenger cars with max. 7 seats / max. authorised gross weight of 3,5 tons and their trailers belonging to vehicle category D1.
D2
Vans, RVs, minibuses and passenger cars with 8-9 seats / max. authorised gross weight of 3,5 tons.
B2
Buses, i.e., all motor vehicles with more than 9 seats (including the driver’s seat), designed to carry passengers.
U
Utility trailers towed by vehicles of categories D2 and B2.
D1M
Motorcycles.
